Here the colors have been mixed together in the circular motion that I talked about in the previous frame causing the base colors to form the sky. With that done I sit back and look at how the colors have blended together and I begin to add support colors as needed going forward toward the finishing of the sky. Constantly looking at the reference photograph trying to represent that picture as faithfully as I can. Knowing full well that people who see this painting will recognize where it is. Basically What I am doing is documenting on canvas what a photographer does on photographic paper. My belief is that my painting will last longer over time and that’s why I paint.
Note: I have only put color in the sky. I don’t work the entire painting at the same time because I don’t like painting that way. This is a personal choice that has its advantages and disadvantages I’m sure.
