The sky now becomes my point of interest. I’ll begin to fold the colors together to reach the levels of blue I’m looking for. To me it’s like a chef baking a cake, all I do is add ingredients and fold them together and stir. I add pastel instead of cake mix and I use my fingers instead of a spoon.

As I stated earlier I usually have this part of the painting completed at the beginning but not this time so for me this is a new experience. I have always painted from the top left hand corner down to the right hand corner. A lot of artists do a painting this way many others paint all over the canvas. Note this isn’t an oil painting. Pastels have a habit of lifting off the surface they are applied too, so you have to be cautious of what and how you apply your pastels and how often you tap the back to release excess pastel dust.
